Choose The Perfect Area Rug

Area rugs make a wonderful addition to any room. They are provide comfort and warmth over a tile or wood floor. But they also provide artistic value to a room’s design. Rugs are considered artwork for the floor, they frame your room and pull the space together. To create a well-balanced room – size does matter. You don’t want to go too big. The rule of thumb is to choose a rug that no more than two feet shorter than the smallest wall in the room. For a 10X12 foot office, the rug should be no more than 8×10. You also don’t want to go too small. In dining rooms, the rug should extend at least 18 inches beyond the edge of the table to accommodate the dining chairs.   In bedrooms, the rug should extend 36 inches or so all around the bed. Alternatively, runners are great to use on either side.   In seating areas, rugs should fit the configuration of the room and accommodate the furniture. At least the front third of the furniture should sit on the rug. It’s even better to place the furniture entirely on the rug, but not required.
