Rug during the washing process. Services and Products

• Quality Oriental, Navajo, and specialty rug cleaning: Not all rugs are the same. They have different weaves and different dyes, which dictate how they are cleaned. We are able to adapt our cleaning process to ensure that each specific rug is brought back to its original beauty and its value protected.

At Oriental Rug Cleaning, cleaning a hand-woven rug is a multi-step process designed to maximize efficiency and effectiveness without compromising delicate dyes or weaves:

  • Pre-cleaning inspection to determine pre-existing conditions, fiber content, colorfastness, cleaning concerns, and appropriate cleaning methods
  • Thorough dusting using mechanical beaters that will remove 10 times the amount of dry soil that is achieved through vacuuming
  • Thorough cleaning using a total immersion process designed to remove most types of soil
  • Deoderization in an enzyme bath to address unpleasant odors from pet urine, smoke residue, or other sources
  • Rinsing to eliminate detergent residue, which can cause re-soiling and fiber deterioration
  • Grooming to set the pile in its original direction and straighten the fringe
  • Drying in our heated drying room
  • Post cleaning inspection

• Deoderization and urine decontamination: We can deoderize most rugs to minimize odor from pets and other sources.

• Hand repair and restoration of rugs: Over time, rugs ranging from fine, hand-made Orientals to machine-made, may require repairs or restoration. Members of our highly experienced staff are experts in all phases of rug repair and restoration, including repairing fringe, blocking to correct irregular shape, and much more. Before we make any repairs, we advise customers on the lever and cost of necessary repairs to ensure that the cost is within budget and commensurate with the value of the rug.

• Hand cleaning delicate textiles and tapestries:  Delicate textiles, tapestries, and wall hangings, especially hand woven and loomed textiles, require careful cleaning and care to extend their life and beauty. After inspecting all silks, wools, and other fine fabrics, we will carefully hand clean them to preserve and enhance their beauty, fiber integrity, woven designs, and dyes.

• Rug pad sales: All rugs, from family heirlooms to estate sale finds to new pruchases, need a protective rug pad. Rug pads minimize slippage, increase the life of the rug, make rugs feel thicker and more luxurious, and absorb noise.

• Wrapping rugs for shipping and storage: Rugs should be wrapped in tear resistant, water resistant, breathable paper for shipping and storage. We highly recommend that rugs be Ellen with microscope rofessionally cleaned before they are stored.

Tests show that Host® reduces dust mites, and their allergens, pet allergens, and mold spores. It has just the right amount of moisture, special detergents, and solvents to break up, absorb, and lift away dirt. Host® leaves no soapy, sticky residue to attract dirt and carpets can be used immediately after cleaning.
